I am a full-time counselor educator at an accredited Master's in Counseling program in New Jersey and maintain a part-time private practice where I see clients and provide clinical supervision to other counselors. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in New Jersey and Virginia, and a board-certified counselor (NCC) and telemental health provider (BC-TMH). I have a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology (Family Studies minor), a Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling (Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counselor Education & Supervision (with a focus on Addictions & Family Counseling). I have been working in the mental health field for over a decade.
My previous clinical experience has been enriching and rewardingly diverse as I have worked with clients across the lifespan with a wide variety of concerns. During my doctoral program, I was a director of an addictions counseling clinic and worked at a family counseling center. In addition, I have experience with intensive in-home counseling and international trauma counseling. My other clinical experiences include interning at a non-profit organization where I provided outpatient counseling services to primarily mandated clients and working as a therapeutic day treatment intern. Finally, I have worked as both an elementary and middle school counseling intern.
My counseling style is warm, empathic, genuine, non-judgmental, collaborative, and relational. My approach is culturally sensitive and grounded in humanistic theories (e.g., person-centered theory) and motivational interviewing. I also readily integrate psychodynamic theory (e.g., object-relations/attachment theory). Depending on your needs and preferences, I can tailor my methods and draw from narrative, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based counseling approaches. Whatever your goals for counseling may be, we will always collaboratively work together to achieve them.
If you are ready to take that step towards positive growth and change in your life, I am here to support you and be present with you on your journey. I look forward to working with you!
