If you work with Tamara, first and foremost she will focus on understanding your life story, your unique perspective, and your culture. There are many solutions to a problem, and she will help and encourage you to find your own – what fits best for you. Your sessions are interactive as Tamara brings compassion, hope, honesty, and humor. Tamara is passionate about helping clients understand and communicate their needs, understand and learn how to manage difficult emotions, and experience themselves in a more positive way. When we learn and practice skills that help us manage our stress, life gets a little easier each day. Tamara takes a holistic approach and helps clients understand the mind-body connection. She assist clients in using their body to get clues about what is going on in their mind. Our bodies work in concert with our minds and give a more honest story of what is bothering us. Often our current experiences are influenced by our past painful events. It can be difficult to understand why we react a certain way and how to move forward. Tamara assists clients with gaining a better understanding of such events, how the clients adapted to live in their environment, and what kind of positive changes they can make in order to create a satisfying life. It is Tamara's mission to help clients feel heard, become empowered, and cultivate self-compassion. Each one of us has inner wisdom and capacity to heal ourselves. Tamara received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and a Master's degree from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered and Strengths-Based, Trauma-Informed, and Systems Focused therapy. She helps clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, confidence, men's issues, family issues, relationship concerns, addictions, and cultural issues.
