My name is Sharon Gilmore and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been married for 23 years and we have a blended family - my son, his daughter, and our son. Those three are all grown up and two of them have blessed us with grandchildren. I have been in the field of social work for 21 years. This is a challenging career but I can honestly say it is the calling on my life that keeps me loving it as much as I did in that first year. I have worked in child protective services, hospice social work, mobile crisis services for individuals experiencing mental health crisis, private practice, and travel social work. As you can imagine through the various types of experience, I have worked with all ages through many stages of life. Blended families and high conflict custody cases are a passion of my heart, particularly advocating for fathers to have relationships with their children. I believe that children are the future of tomorrow and we all have a responsibility to do what we can to help them find their way. In working with children, adolescents, and teenagers, I also incorporate the parents as well as siblings as needed so that the client can have a successful therapeutic experience. I also enjoy working with adults - both individual clients as well as couples. I have worked with a multitude of issues to include trauma, addiction to drugs, alcohol, and pornography, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, social skills, interpersonal relationships, marital problems, infidelity, bullying, academic problems, workplace issues, family related problems, and stage of life issues. I do not practice one type of therapeutic intervention; as I get to know your needs and what works best for you, we will discuss which therapeutic approach might be best. In conclusion, you are the most important part of any therapeutic relationship. With that being said, I believe you are the expert about all that you have been through. My role as your therapist is to help you learn how to take those experiences forward realizing that each and every experience is part of who you are; you can still learn how to live your best life.
