Hi there, I'm Nick!
Riemenschneider is pronounced Ree-Men-Shn(eye)-Der. I am a fully licensed clinical counselor (LPCC) in Kentucky. I have been doing this labor of love since 2019. I believe every client is unique and whatever issues they are facing are unique from their perspective. I often find myself teaching my clients self-love. Self-Love is crucial and my motto is: Know Self, Accept Self, Love Self. I might add that Self-Love and Selfishness are two different attitudes.

My approach:
My approach to mental health counseling is considered eclectic meaning that I utilize concepts and aspects of many different theories, applications, and modalities. I am Trauma-Informed, Level 1 Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) certified, Autism Specialist certified, DBT certified, Transpersonal Psychology minded, and soon to complete certification in Ericksonian Solution Oriented Hypnosis. If you are curious about what Transpersonal Psychology is you can check out this article: https://positivepsychology.com/transpersonal-psychology/

My focus:
My clients are typically individual adults seeking to reduce or eliminate symptoms commonly associated with trauma including but not limited to anxiety and depression. These symptoms are often present in disorders such as PTSD, ASD, ADHD, Bipolar, Addictions, and Grief. My goal is to help individuals navigate these issues to achieve a better life experience.

My communication style:
Creating a space where clients can feel safe enough to share their experiences is my main focus. Feeling safe is something we all deserve. I have a broad range of life experience and I believe that experience allows me to connect with my clients where they are in their life's journey. I am a good listener, empathetic, validating, and empowering. I can be gentle when needed and direct when needed.

My journey to mental healthcare:
Since childhood, I have always been interested in human behavior. However, I grew up in an abusive home and that altered my course for some time. Somehow, I survived the challenges that typically result from such an experience including addiction, failed relationships, severe financial challenges, loss of income and support, car accidents, fear, anxiety, depression, and low self-confidence. This is my passion, and it's motivated by my experience and belief that people deserve to be cared about.

My first session with you:
Usually, I begin with an exploration of childhood experiences. I find that the root of the issue often lies within the first 8 years of a person's life. I believe every client deserves to experience validation which is to be seen, heard, and acknowledged. They also deserve to experience unconditional positive regard, a sense of acceptance, belonging, and value, and a reasonable amount of joy. These are basic needs that are often unmet in childhood and unmet needs develop into problematic patterns of thought and behavior as the person grows older.
