Hello, my name is Miguel Lopez. As a Hispanic male (He/Him) and a military combat veteran, I bring a unique perspective to my work as a therapist. I am fluent in Spanish and passionate about helping people navigate the complexities of life. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Walden University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University, and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Pikes Peak State College. With over ten years of experience as a caseworker, substance abuse counselor, and therapist, I have had the privilege of working with diverse clients facing real-life challenges and needing daily support.
Life can be incredibly tough, and we all go through hard times—whether it's a breakup, divorce, grief, loss of a loved one or pet, or even the loss of a job. During these moments, having an unbiased person to provide aid and support can make all the difference. I believe trauma is an unexpected part of life that we often struggle to understand. However, with the right support, you can deal with and overcome it in a healthy and professional manner. I have personally experienced enough trauma, grief, loss, sadness, depression, and substance use to last a lifetime, and I sought help to navigate these challenges.
My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in helping people in the best way I can, approaching each situation with an open mind. I often use Maslow's hierarchy of needs as a framework because I believe that a client cannot focus on their mental health if they are not well physically or are dealing with issues like homelessness or substance abuse. I enjoy working with clients from age 5 to geriatric who are dealing with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, PTSD, Mood, Personality Disorders, and other mental health and substance abuse conditions. It's easy to fight your battles alone and suffer in silence, but you no longer have to do that. Together, we can work through your challenges and find a path to healing.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends, playing sports like basketball, softball, and golf, working out, and relaxing at home. If you're ready to take the next step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life, I am here to support you every step of the way.
