Hello, I'm Melissa. Life can be hard, and my approach to therapy is to share with you a safe, non-judgmental space where we can build a strong therapeutic relationship. Together, we can explore the challenges you face and develop ways to make changes and choices in your life, making it easier.
I use a mix of evidence-based practices and approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM). Through our collaborative work, I will support you in addressing harm, developing coping strategies, and facilitating healing. My goal is to empower you to understand your feelings and behaviors so you can make positive and lasting changes.
My primary treatment model starts with DBT. With over 20 years of training and experience in this skill-based model, I focus on providing you with skills for managing intense emotions and negotiating social relationships. DBT's strong educational component aims to reduce your suffering so you can live the life you desire.
Many people use defense responses created to avoid painful unconscious material from early childhood and/or other traumatic experiences. Having a strong base of skills will help allow for deeper healing and potentially inner child work, resulting in long-lasting healing and changes, breaking the cycle of generational trauma. Therapy provides the support and structure to facilitate your ability to make positive changes.
I specialize in working with clients who have complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and borderline personality disorder. My experience has taught me that it is important to honor the unique aspects of each relationship. Therefore, I am happy to answer any questions about my practice prior to you committing to therapy.
Outside of my professional life, I value staying connected with my community and sharing insights through social media. You can find me on Facebook @therapyandtreatment. I look forward to the possibility of working together and supporting you on your journey to healing.
