Hello, I'm Melissa, and I'm dedicated to helping individuals overcome life's challenges and achieve overall well-being by providing a non-judgmental and compassionate environment. I believe in empowering my clients to understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while developing the skills necessary for lasting change. My approach is integrative, drawing from Person-Centered Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness to tailor the best possible care for each individual.
With over 5 years of experience in providing counseling to people of all ages, I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, time management, relationships, parenting, and any other life stressors that one may face. I have a particular passion for working with young adults, having spent over 10 years teaching, coaching, and counseling in the high school environment.
My educational background includes an Ed.D. in Community Care and Counseling with an emphasis in Traumatology from Liberty University. I also hold a B.S. in Family and Consumer Science Education from South Dakota State University and a Master’s degree in School Counseling from Lamar University. Additionally, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have earned a Ph.D.
I specialize in a wide range of areas including children's mental and behavioral health, adolescent and teen mental and behavioral health, anger management, antisocial behavior, anxiety, ADHD, depression, family relationships, grief and bereavement, LGBTQIA+ support, life transitions, multicultural and diversity issues, perinatal support (pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum), PTSD, intimate and romantic relationships, learning disorders, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors, and trauma.
When you work with me, you can expect a supportive and empathetic space where we can explore your challenges together. My goal is to help you build resilience, find clarity, and create meaningful change in your life.
If you're ready to take the next step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to navigate your journey.
