Hello, I'm Laura. You are reading this for a reason. It is time to take responsibility for your mental health and find your joy!
Life is full of challenges, yet having the tools to face life's challenges is not innate; this is something that we all need to learn and practice. I have spent my entire adult life learning, practicing, and teaching others the skills needed to tackle life's challenges with confidence and positivity. Helping others gain the skills to face the hard stuff with new energy and confidence is a true honor. I honestly love the work I do.
In 2007, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University. Soon after, I obtained my clinical license as well as a supervisory certification, which enables me to mentor and teach new social workers hoping to obtain their clinical license.
As a licensed clinical social worker for almost 20 years, I have worked with a host of different populations, including individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues. Prior to private practice, I supported children in foster care along with their biological parents, foster parents, and adoptive parents, guiding them through big life transitions that included intense anxiety and grief.
I have also worked as a college professor, provided pre-adoptive counseling for adoptive families, and contracted with the court system to provide adoptive home studies and custodial investigations for contested custody cases.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, incorporating a strength-based perspective, solution-focused approaches, and cognitive behavioral techniques. This blend allows me to tailor our sessions to your unique needs and goals, ensuring that you feel supported and empowered throughout your journey.
Whether you're dealing with anxiety, family relationships, life transitions, stress, ADHD, children's mental and behavioral health, grief, or trauma, I am here to help. Together, we can work towards achieving the goals you have waited so long to reach.
It is time... You are in control of your mental health, and we can do this together!
