Hello. I am Kris Harper, LCSW, with over 25 years of professional work in clinical settings. I create a safe, confidential space for people to address their experiences and emotions that create barriers to their best life. Reaching out for help isn't easy. Being honest, teletherapy terrified me when it was suddenly the only venue to use during COVID-19, but I have found that it is a very beneficial tool for a lot of people. If you have a private space to engage in sessions, you may want to give it a try.
I have spent my career working with diverse populations and currently focus on emotional regulation (including mood disorders and anxiety), impulse control (including ADHD and anger management), grief (death of a loved one, pet loss, loss of job, divorce, role in life), personality disorders, trauma, and chronic pain. If you have noticed that your life is not as full as you would like it to be, have a mind that won't calm down, or are stuck on the couch with no motivation, I'm here to help you learn ways to manage this better. If anxiety becomes overwhelming and being around others becomes a nightmare or you have experienced a loss and don't know what to do next, it's time to start working on a better tomorrow.
I use an approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), combined with mindfulness and self-care.
I have many roles and wear a variety of different hats. I enjoy learning, spending time with family and friends, cuddling with my critters, and watching too much television. I am a migraine warrior and have an understanding of what it takes to deal with a chronic illness. I think one of the important things to know about me is that I'm straightforward and honest. If I don't know how to help you on your journey, I'll assist you in finding other resources.
I understand that not everyone works the same shift or functions at the same hour. Additional session times are available on a case-by-case basis. You have already taken the first step by reading this. If you are ready to continue, please send me a message. Let's see if we are a good fit to start this journey to emotional and mental wellness together.
