Hello and welcome! My name is Kathleen Frank. I know going to therapy can be daunting, let alone talking to a stranger about your inner most thoughts and feelings. So, congratulations on taking this first step. I am a licensed counselor in Texas, Colorado, New York, and Pennsylvania (I like to travel), and I am here to support you on your journey. I only offer virtual mental health counseling.
I approach each client based on their unique needs, situation, culture, lived experiences, and goals. My therapeutic style is flexible, and I tend to move fluidly through various approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Gestalt Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. What does that all mean? It means I adapt to your needs and where you are in your therapeutic process. For example, if you're experiencing increased anxiety, we might focus on learning coping skills. Later, we might work on identifying and processing the triggers of your anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other concerns. As your needs and goals shift, so do I. My role in our therapeutic relationship is to help you, the expert of your life, achieve your goals by providing unbiased emotional support, insight-oriented dialogue, compassion, empathy, and strengths-based approaches.
A little bit more about me: I am originally from upstate New York. I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Cazenovia College in 2007 and then moved to North Carolina, where I completed my master's degree at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2009. I relocated to Texas in 2010 where I worked in the private practice sector and college setting for about 12 years. I primarily work with young adults and adults, and enjoy helping people discover the person they want to become. Life can be difficult, and sometimes we need someone in our corner. My specialties include Anger Management, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Grief/Bereavement, LGBTQIA+ support, Life transitions, Stress, and Trauma. If you are interested in working with me, let's schedule a free consultation to see if we are a good match. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your journey.
