Jotina Buck
"Jotina Buck, LPC (she/her), is a highly skilled licensed professional counselor, registered yoga teacher, and integrative mental health practitioner with over 15 years of experience in psychology and human behavior. As the owner and founder of Root + Yoke Wellness, the first black, queer, female-owned integrative mental health practice in central Houston, she is dedicated to providing culturally responsive care to marginalized communities, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ populations. Jotina specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Mindfulness-Based Therapy, using these evidence-based modalities to support clients in managing trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress. Her therapeutic approach emphasizes building trust, fostering self-compassion, and encouraging holistic well-being. Before founding her practice, Jotina served as a school-based mental health practitioner in public education for three years, supporting the emotional and behavioral development of children and youth in Pre-K through 8th grade. Her commitment to mental health advocacy is reflected in her passion for closing equity gaps in mental health care for underserved communities. Outside of her clinical work, Jotina enjoys connecting with nature, cooking, resting, and spending time with her family. She is also active in the Houston wellness community, frequently attending concerts and gatherings with fellow yoga and wellness advocates. Jotina believes in co-creating a more compassionate, human-centered world and is devoted to helping her clients """"better human"""" in their everyday lives."
