Jeremiah Soto
Hello, my name is Jeremiah Soto and I'm looking forward to meeting you soon. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Indiana. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families for a variety of needs ranging from minor relational conflict to severe mental illness. My background is primarily in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, marital distress, substance abuse/dependency, and behavioral modification in children though I am not limited to those specific populations. I am also an LGBTQ affirming provider. For some of the more common behavioral health needs, I like to start with a solution-focused approach to treatment. This is a goal-directed, collaborative therapeutic relationship where we work together to unpack the present issues and focus on solutions. Through this process, I assist individuals with moving toward the life they want versus staying stuck in unfavorable circumstances. For more complex mental health needs, I evaluate the individual and tailor my treatment approach to meet the needs of the person where they are. I generally practice from a Cognitive Behavioral approach as the many years of research show its effectiveness across multiple BH needs. I work with individuals and couples from various backgrounds, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual identities, and spiritualities. I believe that everyone should have a therapist, and this includes therapists. We all have "stuff". It is important that we all have a safe and therapeutic place to unpack and process those things without fear of judgment or privacy. Everyone needs a place to address our fears, problems, needs, anger, worries, sadness, etc., without the often-unhelpful feedback from someone in your life who is trying to "fix you." Nobody can do that for you. Only you can do that for you. I want to join you in your journey, wherever it is you want to go. Being a therapist is one of the most unique roles anyone can have. Being invited into some of the most intimate, and at times darkest corners of a person's life is a privilege I don't take lightly. Being in therapy has long had a stigma associated with it; however, I believe it is one of the bravest things a person can do. Therapy is about self-care, healing, growth, and gaining awareness and understanding of your life's story. It truly signifies the strength of an individual. If you would like for me to join you on your journey, I would be more than happy to have a brief discussion about your needs, goals, and ways I can help. No pressure. Let's just talk. Together, we can figure this out.
