Hello, I'm Jennifer. The human experience presents everyone with challenges. When we are facing difficult life transitions and emotions that thwart our efforts to live our best, we can feel overwhelmed. The opportunity provided in pursuing therapy is that you don't have to take this journey alone and use guesswork to come up with solutions. Working together, we can address the challenges you face. I will provide you with understanding and support, offering you a new perspective on your issues and specific tools to assist you on this journey.
I have been a psychotherapist for 30 years. In 1994, I received my Master's in Clinical Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. I started my career at Washington University School of Medicine. From 1994 to 2009, I provided doctors and scientists in training with psychotherapy. In 2009, I transitioned to providing treatment in private practice. From 2015 to 2016, I took a position with the Department of Corrections, where I provided psychotherapy to inmates with severe psychiatric illness living in isolation. From 2016 to the present, I have been in private practice.
The focus of my work has been providing treatment to adults challenged by difficult life transitions, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, dialectical behavior therapy, and psychodynamic theory. I also specialize in helping individuals dealing with addiction, grief, PTSD, stress, suicidal ideation, and trauma, including support for military and veterans.
I will always work to provide you with a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe to communicate your feelings. I will work collaboratively with you to develop a personal treatment plan with respect for your specific needs. If you're ready to take the next step, I'm here to support you on your journey to healing and growth.
