Hi there! I'm Jennifer Lewis, and I'm excited to meet you and assist you in taking that first step towards feeling better as you get therapy started.
My ideal client is someone who is motivated to make positive change, even if they aren't sure how to do that just yet. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, LGBTQ+, or relationship challenges. Though many of my clients come into therapy in pain, they are seeking a secure and inviting space to explore their inner world, how their past may be affecting them now, and tools that can help them thrive.
I bring a natural optimism to sessions and enjoy exploring clients' strengths as a base to build on. I tailor sessions to meet clients where they are, offering an eclectic approach. While some clients thrive with structure and accountability through models like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, others benefit from a mindful, gentle approach with models like Psychodynamic and Person-Centered Therapy. I believe clients are experts on themselves, thus the therapeutic process is about collaboration as we work towards their unique hopes and goals. If you decide to work with me, know you'll have a teammate in this process advocating for you!
Here is a bit about me. I am a Colorado native, though living in New Orleans for college made an impression on my heart that I will always carry, and I consider it a second home. I graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2004 with a Master's Degree in Counselor Education. I have worked in the human services field for almost 20 years, and tremendously value the lessons learned from so many of my clients. I am married and have 3 adult children, one sassy cat, and two "grandkitties." One thing I have been delighted about with video therapy is how often I get to see my clients' pets! I enjoy time with family and friends as well as quality alone time. Outside of work, you may find me at my favorite place - the dance studio - building my skills in contemporary dance and hip-hop dance.
I would love to hear more about you when we meet. Feel free to message me with any questions as you begin your journey in therapy.
