Life is difficult. Especially when you feel overwhelmed with feelings of sadness, fear, anger, or feelings of chronic emptiness. By starting counseling, you are taking the first step Towards starting to feel better. It is often difficult to reach out to a counselor because your brain may be telling you that you can handle your mental health, or that you don’t want to burden others with your problems. So take a moment to congratulate yourself on taking this first step.
Respect, understanding, honesty and transparency define how I counsel. I became a therapist because I have always had the belief that we are all equal and that every person deserves respect, honesty and a safe place to be their authentic self. I love having the opportunity to sit with people in their most vulnerable times without casting any judgement. I strive to be able to show that each individual is inherently valuable and worth listening to. I do my best to maintain a calm judgement free atmosphere. I also strive to be as close to my authentic self as possible when counseling.
I graduated with my Bachelors of Social Work in 2017 from Capital University in Columbus Ohio. I then graduated with my Masters of Social Work in 2018 From The Ohio State University. I worked for three years in community mental health before I became a Licensed Independent Social Worker in 2021. During my time in community mental health I worked with individuals that struggle with addiction, inmates at the local jail, as well as individuals with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder and Schizophrenia.
I enjoy working with a vast array of clients. However, my specialties include working with Childhood trauma, agoraphobia/ social anxiety, Generalized Anxiety disorder, anger, self esteem problems and Major Depressive Disorder. In order to work with these conditions I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I use these therapeutic approaches to help you to learn alternative ways of thinking about problems in your life, come up with innovative solutions to solve problems, and to work through the history of the problem and the effect it has had on your life.
If you read this and resonate with what I have said in any way, please feel free to reach out to me through Sondermind If I have not reached out to you already!
