For clients seeking a combination of a nursing and medical perspective, I am an advanced practice nurse with a board certification in Family Psychiatry. My license and certification allows me the privledge to prescribe medication while encorporating therapeutic modalities. I am able to treat and diagnose a diverse population with ages ranging from adolescent to geriatric. I have treated individuals with emotional and psychiatric needs including but not limited to depression, Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, child ADHD and adult ADD, OCD, Substance Abuse, Post traumatic stress disorder, Anxiety disorders, Sleep disturbance and Alzheimers Dementia.
I have been in healthcare for over 40 years. I began my early career as a Respiratory Therapist. I returned to school to become a Registered Nurse and later returned to school to become a Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner with Board Certification in Family allowing me to treat all populations.
I attended school for my Master's degree at Hunter Bellvue. My study included extensive coursework in Psychopharmacology,Therapeutic modalities and intensive clinical rotations in diverse psychiatric and mental health areas. I have practiced as a consultant in short and long term care facilities, outpatient clinics, private practice, as well as being a consultant on hospital behavioral health units. I have been in solo private practice for 13 years. During treatment, I often collaborate with other mental health care providers as well as medical providers if needed upon client's request and consent. My best practice includes working on mutual goals with clients to improve overall mental health outcomes.
