Arti Dautenhahn
Arti is a Licensed Professional Counselor in rural Missouri. He has been working with kids and families for more than 20 years. He started his career working with troubled youth in a lockdown facility, then moved to working with adults with mental illnesses. From there He worked in about every position in the child welfare world and found his passion for preventative services. He has been working in preventative services trying to help families not lose their children to the state for almost 10 years. He also works with families of new babies to help them reduce childhood traumas. He has been doing counseling for about 8 years in a limited capacity both in-person and through telehealth. He has had very good success working with children and parents within the child welfare system tackling issues like attachment problems, substance use disorders, and trauma. He has also had the pleasure of working very successfully with adults that are either recovering from or exiting longstanding relationships with a narcissist partner. Arti’s style of therapy is first, and foremost, to have fun. When we have a fun experience our brain reacts and we want to have that experience again. This keeps the momentum rolling and makes it much easier to do the hard work that therapy sometimes is. Arti is a great believer in the Solution-Focused model of therapy where we don't dwell in the past too much other than to find past successes that we can apply to the present and future. He also will use Cognitive Behavioral Approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and Client-Centered Therapy. Arti recognizes that you are the absolute expert on the subject of you. He is also trained in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (a fancy way of saying He understands how early trauma effects brain development and how that brain development can remain skewed well into adulthood without correction).
