Hello! I am Amy Lottes, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I have experience helping clients with depression, stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, relationship issues, trauma, and an array of other issues. My clients like working with me because they feel like we are having a conversation while addressing their issues and working toward their goals. They usually say this approach feels less clinical and intimidating, and as a result, end up making progress faster than they initially thought they would. I view therapy as a process in which the client and therapist work together to determine goals and define success, as well as determine a process for maintaining success. Our work will be geared toward achieving a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. I approach therapy from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, meaning thoughts and beliefs that are interfering with functioning need to be addressed and appropriately changed and/or reorganized for better mental health. I also employ methods from other theoretical approaches as needed and deemed useful. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change.
