Amberlyn Keller
Amberlyn Joy Keller, M.A., M. Edu., LPC. holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology from York College in Nebraska, a Master’s of Arts degree in Applied Research Psychology from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas, a second master’s of art degree in School Counseling from University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas and completed her License Professional Counselor (LPC) classes through Lamar University through online education and is fully licensed in the state of Texas as a LPC and has experience working in private practice as well as in a behavioral psychiatric hospital. Amberlyn has 13 years of teaching/coaching experience at all levels of education including in special education and teaching experience at the college level teaching psychology courses online for five years for Midland College from 2005-2010 as a part-time adjunct teacher and has been counseling full time since 2019 after leaving education. Amberlyn likes to focus on client centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT); dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and has a realistic approach to counseling. She believes working through grief and trauma is important in moving forward in life. Mindfulness and yoga practices can help with this. She feels that each meeting with a client is a conversation that serves a purpose where the client can talk things out, think things through and grow. She is also willing to work with people who have experienced traumatic brain injuries as well as other medical conditions due to her own experience with surviving a stroke in 2020. Counseling individuals dealing with the loss of a beloved pet or impending loss is also a focus for her as well as helping people manage job stress, or loss, and career management. In her spare time, she is enjoying training for triathlon races by swimming, biking and running as well as likes lifting weights and spending time with her beloved pet kitties when she is home.
