Hi and welcome, let me share a bit of my philosophy with you…
After several different career choices, true to the vocational model, at thirty-something I discovered the field of psychotherapy. I began my career in accounting, moving into the medical field, then the business world and found my true passion in the study of human behavior. I may be one of a few therapists with physics and organic chemistry as electives! I have three grown children and am Gaga to eight grandchildren and 0ne great grandchild (I have finally lived long enough to be great at something!). Family time, pets, reading, hiking and travel are my other passions. Any time spent happy is NOT wasted time.
With 20+ years of experience in many areas of counseling (from human trafficking to organ donation) my philosophy has developed into some basic beliefs. Essentially, I came to understand that we are responsible for our quality of life and it is in our best interest to pursue the highest quality of life possible. You cannot give what you do not have. Taking time for YOU is a quintessential part of experiencing happiness. Knowing who you are and loving it, is a big step in the right direction towards joyful living. In the words of Alfred Hitchcock “If I won’t be myself, who will”? Many times we find we are living every day to meet someone else’s expectations or we find ourselves comparing our lives with others and feeling envious or less than. That’s when we remind ourselves that we must live the life we have and if we aren’t happy with it, we change it! If nothing changes there would be no butterflies! In the counseling relationship, I walk beside you, and “hold your gold” until you can manage all of your wonderfully, fabulous self! It would be my honor to accompany you on this journey. Be Well, Stay Awesome!
