What to Know About Gender Affirming Surgeries
Individuals may seek gender affirming surgery to treat symptoms of Gender Dysphoria. Individuals seeking gender affirming surgery may seek behavioral care across the stages of surgery, beginning at the decision process through post-surgery recovery. Due to the evolving role of the mental health provider in Gender Affirming Care and lack of accessible training, many mental health providers feel hesitant to support individuals seeking gender affirming surgeries. This course provides an overview of gender affirming surgeries that specifically focuses on what mental health professionals need to know to effectively and confidently support individuals seeking gender affirming surgeries.
