Life can be complex, with challenges that affect us not only physically, but emotionally. Sometimes, it can just feel overwhelming, especially if we haven’t yet found someone who we can talk to openly and freely about our difficulties and struggles, and are left to navigate through it on our own. I can assure you, it doesn’t have to be this way, it shouldn’t be. At some point in life, we all need someone to talk to, whether it’s to vent, to help “sort things out”, or to gain greater clarity about our situation or learn more about ourselves. But how do we find the right person to talk to amongst all these clinicians? They’re so many! What do we look for? I strongly believe it’s important for anyone in therapy to feel safe and comfortable sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings without a fear of being judged, which is why I take a non-judgmental approach, creating a safe environment to openly communicate. I also believe it’s important for anyone seeking therapy to find someone with whom they can connect with based on understanding. Therapy doesn’t necessarily have to be long-term, but if it is, that’s ok. Everyone’s needs are different, which is why I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, tailored to meet each person’s needs, as they will differ based on individual circumstances. Therapy is collaborative, and I work with each client to help them identify their personal goal and develop the skills necessary for them to be reached.
