Tonya Powell
She is a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to providing exceptional care and promoting healing and wholeness. She received her Masters degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. Since then, she has had extensive training and experience working with a diverse group of people, including residential care working with children and adolescents struggling with trauma induced behaviors, maladaptive coping skills, and problematic sexualized behaviors. In addition she has worked closely with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence, Military Personnel and their families who struggle with PTSD, transitions and more. She utilizes a wide array of treatment modalities including Trauma Informed Care, Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered and Solution Focused therapy. She may use one or more modalities of care dependent upon the individualized needs of the client. She is very compassionate and empathetic, yet concise and constructive in her delivery. In addition to counseling, she is a self-published author, a Pastor, wife of a retired Army Veteran and together they have 11 children.
