Sabrina Gohlke
Hello, I'm Sabrina. I help people struggling in life to create and sustain positive change. My approach is judgment-free and deeply dedicated to client-centered practices that provide individuals with dignity and self-determination. Together, we will identify unconscious core beliefs about yourself, relationships, life, and the things that have happened to you. These beliefs affect your emotions and behaviors and can interfere with your decision-making and ability to accomplish your goals. I will help you identify the root cause of your concerns to develop a more empowered perspective and help you develop skills to manage your emotions so you can consciously create the life you want. I was born in Germany and spent many years of my childhood readjusting to life between Europe and the US. My father was a First Sergeant in the Army, and I got used to making new friends and then leaving them. Once my father retired, my family put down roots in Orlando, Florida. I struggled for many years with abandonment issues, depression, anxiety, and feeling stuck. I unconsciously sabotaged relationships in fear of abandonment or rejection. I spent a lot of time repressing my emotions: anger, sadness, fear, guilt, and shame. I drank alcohol to manage anxiety. In 2008, I had a moment in which I realized there was nothing wrong with me and that I was loved just the way I am. I realized all along I had the power to live the life I wanted; I was the only one getting in the way. Since then, I have been on a path of self-love and discovery with an intent to help others do the same. I understand pain and am passionate about helping others navigate their own pain to find fulfillment in life. Now, I am a Colorado resident who enjoys the outdoors. I'm a wife of a combat veteran and former LEO, a mother of two beautiful girls, and a trained birth and postpartum doula. I am also an avid functional fitness enthusiast and CrossFit Level 1 coach. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Colorado and Florida. I received my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2016, majoring in mental health counseling with an emphasis on military social work. I also hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. My clinical training and background include work with incarcerated populations and veterans using CBT, mindfulness, and behavioral modalities, as well as advanced training with neonatal and birth-attachment with women and children. I have 5 years of experience working with individuals, children, and families suffering from complex trauma related to abuse, neglect, domestic violence, substance use, and mental illness (anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and personality disorders). I am also a trained birth and postpartum doula who enjoys therapeutically working with women and their partners through the perinatal and postpartum period. I believe that each person is unique and that one size does not fit all. Because of this, I utilize a combination of evidence-based treatment methods including CBT, trauma-focused CBT, cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, mindfulness, psychoanalysis, client-centered therapy, existential therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. If you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, I'm here to support you every step of the way. Let's work together to create the life you want.
