Robert Baerncopf
Hello, I'm Robert. We live in a world that is becoming increasingly unmanageable and overwhelming, but it does not have to be this way. My belief is that anyone can more effectively navigate this world with the right tools and the right support. Rather than looking at any of these difficulties as a sign of weakness, a cornerstone of my practice involves helping people understand that the struggles they face are rooted in unmet psychological needs. By responding more compassionately to these unmet needs, it becomes so much easier to navigate the ups and downs of daily life. In my practice, I like to balance the implementation of tools and a shift in how one looks at the world to enact lasting change that allows for people to live more meaningful lives that provide a sense of fulfillment and purpose. I very much look forward to working with you as you begin your journey to a more satisfying life. In 2015, I graduated from Regis University with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Now, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I have been providing individual, couples, and family therapy to clients of all backgrounds for nine years. I primarily work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), grief/loss, and issues with problematic substance use. I also often work with clients struggling to make sense of major life changes. Prior to individual practice, I worked for behavioral health centers serving clients struggling with severe and persistent depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, and substance use diagnoses. Before that, I worked with children and families navigating grief and loss. I primarily focus on adults but can work with people of all ages and circumstances. I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. With the former, I emphasize the importance of mindfulness practice and aligning actions with core values. With the latter, I highlight the importance of focusing less on problems and more on solutions that lead to a better life. By taking this shift in perspective and having a corresponding change in action, it becomes that much easier to feel more self-compassionate and more empowered. First and foremost, I am committed to making sure that you feel seen and understood. Then, as a team, we can figure out the best way to identify what moves you forward and let go of what has been holding you back. “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.” I look forward to embarking on this journey with you.
