Marisa Burns
Hi! My name is Marisa and I am an LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor), residing in Massachusetts. I received my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology in 2018. I have been practicing in the mental health/human services field in a variety of settings: outpatient, crisis stabilization unit, residential and have experience working with adults dealing with a wide range of mental health and substance abuse disorders. My focus is on creating a compassionate, inclusive, and trauma-informed therapeutic space to allow individuals to fully express themselves. My perspective is that each person is the author of their own story and therapy provides support in maneuvering this. I have experience supporting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, and psychosis symptoms. I am well-versed in the use of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) skill interventions. I utilize humor as a way to create common ground with the client and show my humility.
