John Granger
I help individuals with symptoms and behaviors arising from anxiety, depression, psychosis, obsessions & compulsions, traumatic experiences, addictions, Personality Disorders, low self-esteem, anger, an inability to cope with daily problems or stress, trouble understanding and relating to situations and to people, etc, to lead more productive lives. I utilize a blend of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy as my main therapeutic modalities. I employ Cognitive Restructuring in my therapeutic sessions, and utilize a structured, collaborative, therapeutic approach. Patients are taught to observe their thoughts, to identify personal patterns of maladaptive thinking, to systematically challenge their maladaptive thinking, and then to finally formulate more appropriate adaptive responses to events or problems. This approach allows for the modification of the faulty thoughts, evaluations, and beliefs that are the underlying cause for their psychological and behavioral disturbance(s). I am also trained in Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Hypnotherapy (certified as a Hypnotherapist by the International Association of Counselors & Therapists [IACT]). I am a LIMHP (Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner), LADC (Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor), and LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in the State of Nebraska. I am also a board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as both a CCMHC (Clinically Certified Mental Health Counselor) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University. Although I currently practice in the state of Nebraska, I am also licensed in the state of Iowa as: • LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) • IDAC (International Drug & Alcohol Counselor)
