Jodi Jones
The loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult challenges we face in life. Life can feel hopeless and meaningless when in the depths of grief. Understanding that everyone grieves differently and in their own time is essential to healing. Thru my own personal story of caregiving and loss, I have developed a heart for helping others who are grieving. I would like to hear your story and help guide you in your healing journey. My background is in community mental health with over 25 years experience providing counseling to adults, adolescents, and children with symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, and loss. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervisory endorsement (LPCC-S) as well as a registered play therapist supervisor (RPT-S). I have my doctorate in counselor education from Ohio University. Occasionally I teach master level internship counseling students at my alma mater as a part-time instructor. My theoretical orientation is primarily cognitive behavioral counseling. I have worked with many individuals who have experienced trauma and have used cognitive behavioral counseling techniques in play therapy with children. I earned my certificate in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) several years ago. Most recently I have been incorporating principals of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in my work with adults experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I am excited for the opportunity to expand my practice to the Sondermind community.
