In my practice, I believe very strongly in celebrating successes, both big and small, as we all have our strengths as individuals, as well as opportunities for learning and growth. Everyday life can very easily become overwhelming, trying to meet the demands and expectations of family, work and relationships. As a result, it is my hope to find ways for you to navigate these struggles, with the use of healthy coping mechanisms that you will be able to use in all facets of life. As a Wisconsin native, I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degree of social work at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where my focus was Medical Social Work. The majority of my career has been spent working with individuals and their families in hospice care, with an emphasis on grief and loss. I had the honor and privilege to work at The Center for Good Grief in Collierville, Tennessee, first on a volunteer basis and then as one of their counselor's, providing therapy to people of all ages and varied socio-economic backgrounds. During my time at The Center for Good Grief, I was able to work with both individuals, as well as with grief support groups. Since 2021, I have had my own private practice, working with client's with a variety of needs, including depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, infertility and adoption. As a private practice counselor, I have found cognitive behavioral therapy to be a very successful mode of therapy for my client's, while also utilizing strengths based therapy. My compassion and empathy for my client's is of the utmost importance, as is my client's success in healing and truly learning how to understand thought patterns and behaviors that may be affecting their every day life. Good self care is another area of focus, both for me as your counselor, as well as your own good self care habits, which are an important part of life, and can include a healthy diet, exercising, getting enough sleep and treating yourself and your body with respect. Treating the whole person means that I look at all aspects of life, physical, mental and emotional when implementing goals of care, with an emphasis on your needs and areas that you would like to improve.
