An inspiration in her own right she is an Executive Director/Clinician, MS., M.Ed, NCC, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), CAMS II has over twenty five years in the clinical counseling field and eleven years in education. Her expertise ranges from multi-disciplinary planning, project planning and delivery to person-centered, cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral approaches to therapy. She started her counseling career as an abuse counselor at a battered women’s shelter in College Park, MD. It was while working with women and children and seeing how they were able to improve their situations to improve their quality of life that she decided she wanted to make a difference. She went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Howard University in Washington, DC in 1999 and two Master degrees from Wilmington University in New Castle, DE in Community Counseling (Master of Science) and School Counseling (Master of Education) in 2002 and 2003 respectively. Over the years, she has worked in a variety of settings serving men, women and children to include: Drug and Alcohol Counseling at a Methadone Treatment Facility, Mental Health Liaison with Community Mental Health (State of Delaware), Youth Rehabilitation Services, Correctional Counselor, Parent Aide and a Mental Health Clinician. In addition, she has nine years direct experience in the educational arena as a Special Education Instructor, School Counselor, Adjunct College Instructor and School Administrator after having received her Educational Leadership specialist certification in 2008 from Wilmington University. A community leader, she has participated as a speaker and panelist in roundtables and led various workshops covering scholarships and financial aid, parenting skills, social skills, career exploration, and HIV/AIDS awareness and have been an advocate for children with academic special needs. As a school counselor and educational coordinator at a level six inpatient psychiatric facility in Kennesaw, GA, she was instrumental in assisting the school obtain its initial full accreditation form the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-CASI) in 2010. Most recently she has been employed at various community support agencies in the metro Atlanta area providing “frontline” therapeutic services to adults, children and families. Her clinical expertise covers the following: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy EMDR (Trained), Dialectical Behavior Therapy DBT (Trained), Impulsive Control Problems, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Sexual Addictions, Mood Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorders, Learning Disorders, Domestic Violence, Sexual Victimization, Crisis Intervention, Conflict Resolution, Bully Prevention, Anger Management, Family Preservation/Reintegration, Stress Management and Assessment/Diagnostics.
