Danielle Silver
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri. I hold a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University. I have provided clinical care in a wide variety of settings, including my work in agency-based, in-home, residential, and outpatient environments. In particular, I have experience working with persons struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse/dependence, co-occurring disorders, trauma, eating disorders, life transitions, family violence and parent/child relationships, and LGBTQ+-struggles. I am passionate in creating dynamic relationships that can provide both support and challenge as clients gain the insights necessary to forge self-awareness and cultivate change. In our fast-paced, results driven world, therapy can be a difficult place to sit in the stillness of discomfort. Through cultivating nurturing and compassionate spaces, I work in partnership with clients to create an environment willing to validate, acknowledge, evaluate and confront the successes and struggles of your unique experience. What has always struck me about counseling and therapeutic work is the almost whimsical, flowy movement that happens in each moment of our conscious being. Through our struggles and growth, we as individuals have taken in memories, emotions and information around us to create the environment we flourish or diminish. What has recently struck me in my own personal therapeutic process and in my growth as a professional is that by being a continually mindful, continuously growing and continually reflecting individual that works in partnership with clients to nurture the wounds as they reopen is the path I yearn for. Counseling is not the end goal, it is the beginning-- for both myself as a therapist and the community I work alongside. A favorite quote from Carl Rogers: “A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.”
