Carol Winters
Having joy in life, inner peace, a purpose driven life and financial security are things most people strive for. Sometimes we are temporarily knocked off the track by a crisis or an ongoing life situation that appears to be hopeless and unsolvable. These roadblocks, however, can be overcome by will, support, and using the right tools necessary to change our self-talk and life circumstances so that life works for us once again rather than against us. As humans, we have power to control our destiny and take charge of any situation, no matter how bad it appears on the surface. If we cannot change the situation, we can adapt an internal dialogue that will help us view things in a more positive way and give us peace. I have worked many years on a team with psychiatrists, psychologists and neuropsychologists in medical and mental health facilities. I also have worked in acute care rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes and for the State of Alaska Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. My wide range of experience has made me familiar with many types of issues, both mental and physical. Stress management techniques such as deep breathing, relaxation and how to calm the mind are very helpful in most situations and I can teach these. I believe in the mind-body connection and support the wellness practices of good diet and regular, exercise as well as positive thinking.and goal setting. Sometimes a person seeks out a counselor as a third party to obtain an unbiased opinion on a life transition, a relocation or a relationship issue. I can assist people with the sorting out of details and arriving at a good decision. Teletherapy is great for these Covid19 times. No transportation issues and you can relax from your home. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Montana, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona and a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
