Aimee Potter
I am passionate about working with youth, children, families, Veterans, and disenfranchised populations, whom often are unable to access mental health services, to increase their functioning and healthy maintenance of their relationships. I have skills working with abuse/neglect, substance use, trauma, domestic violence, and mental illness. I grew up in Chicago, and I am committed to providing a service to my community, to better the lives of the individuals struggling. I have also spent extensive time in Colorado, both growing up and as an adult, living there for 2 years during the Pandemic with my family. I am dedicated to providing resources and linkage to my clients, to provide the skills needed to become independent, self-sufficient, productive individuals, engaged in healthy relationships and communication. I utilize cognitive-behavioral approaches, as well as family systems theory, and Adlerian theory in a comforting, mutually respectful, and nurturing therapeutic environment. I have more than 10 years of experience working including forensic social work with juvenile detainees, adult corrections, Veterans, substance use, dual diagnosis, families and mental illness. I have a passion for helping people apply coping skills and stress management strategies to better their lives and stabilize their interactions with others. I believe in the strength-based approach of honing in on the intrinsic skills of individuals, to be able to function successfully in their lives.
