Making Your Practice Accessible for Clients With Disabilities
We all know about ramps and curb cuts, but what is it that truly makes your clinical practice accessible to persons with a wide variety of chronic conditions and disabilities (CID)? Accessibility begins with the first contact, whether by phone, email, or website, and with any intake forms you use prior to or during the first meeting. Physical accessibility can be assessed through ten variables. Policy and treatment accessibility may require examination of common therapist approaches that occur throughout the treatment experience such as the fifty-minute hour, cancellation policies, fee structures, and how outcome measures are delivered and interpreted. In this course you will gain practical knowledge about processes and approaches that can increase the accessibility of your practice.
