Marcia Williams
Marcia is an author and a licensed professional counselor for 21 years. She has extensive experience in individual, couples, and group therapy, both through private practice as well as facility-based treatment programs. Her early experience includes working with families facing challenges caused by the impact of drug addiction through one-on-one and group counseling sessions in their home environment. Simultaneously, she supervised a suicide crisis call center, leading a team of clinicians who responded to crisis calls from members of the community who were experiencing suicidal ideation. Marcia continued her work with families and couples at a treatment program for professionals, including doctors and lawyers, by facilitating lectures and workshops on topics such as 12-Step principles, communication, coping skills, triggers, relationships, and family recovery. Additionally, she led therapy groups for the spouses of those who were in treatment for substance abuse and personality disorders such as Bipolar and Narcissism. From there she went into private practice to continue to work to support and guide men and women in their own recovery and healing process. For the past 16 years, Marcia has served in multiple capacities as a licensed clinician with a major healthcare provider. One of her responsibilities was in supervising a team of licensed clinicians who authorize mental health and substance abuse treatment for a major healthcare organization. Marcia married shortly after graduating from college and immediately began graduate school, receiving her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in 1993. Her educational career was cut short while working on her doctorate at the University of Nebraska Lincoln when her father was diagnosed with cancer. While coping with the loss of her father, she continued to serve her community while raising three boys. Today, Marcia continues to pursue her passion of helping others who have experienced mental health and substance abuse issues due to unhealthy marriages, unresolved grief, and lack of self-worth making it difficult to reach their goals in life.
