Janet Lemoal
"Janet LeMoal, LCSW, CASAC-2, is a licensed clinical social worker and a credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor who possesses extensive experience in working with diverse populations. Emphasizing person-centered therapy, Janet facilitates individuals' pursuit of a more authentic life by fostering an understanding of their identity and the impact of their background. Janet is proficient in assisting individuals in identifying and refining their existing abilities while acquiring new skills to progress toward their goals and objectives. Janet has a diverse and eclectic array of treatment strategies and believes therapy is a collaborative endeavor. Janet has occupied various roles since graduating from the Hunter College School of Social Work in 2008. She was an instructor in the Sociology Department at Wagner College, where she taught a course on addiction. Janet worked with unhoused youth at the Ali Forney Center for LGBTQIA+ Homeless and Runaway Youth. Subsequently, Janet worked on homeless medical teams at the Institute for Family Health, where medical and mental health services were brought to churches, soup kitchens, and community centers, including the Ali Forney Center. During her tenure at the Institute, Janet actively participated in the LGBTQIA+ committee, focusing on the inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community through initiatives such as modifying forms to be more inclusive and arranging staff training sessions. Janet and members of the LGBTQIA+ Committee presented on LGBTQIA+ issues relating to inequality in health outcomes at the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) conference in Washington, D.C. After concluding work at the Institute, Janet went on to provide mental health and addiction services at the HIV/AIDS Clinic at Brooklyn Hospital and the Sexual Health Clinics of New York City. Finally, Janet worked in community mental health, primarily working with people living with Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety, and depression."
