(lic# 14217) with more than 25 years of experience working with individuals, families and youth. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from San Jose State University. Mr. Baxter completed a week long training/course with NAMI Santa Clara County Substance Abuse, Mental illness, prevention and Treatment. In addition, as a part of License renewal for LCSW, Mr. Baxter has been trained in Substance Abuse, treatment and prevention among Teens, and Family Dynamics in Substance Abuse. Mrs. Baxter’s managerial and leadership experience includes Program Directing, clinical supervision of staff and interns and a span of 12 years, as Associate Director at The Bill Wilson Center in Santa Clara, Ca. Mrs. Baxter also provides clinical consultation to other agencies and programs, for more than seven years Mrs. Baxter was the owner/operator/CEO of “Options for Life Counseling Center, Inc” in Fremont, Ca.. Mrs. Baxter is known for her dynamic workshop facilitation on various topics, Depression and Anxiety, marriage, troubled teens, parenting and Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. Gloria J. Baxter is the co-author of a publication entitled Guidelines to Services for Asian Youth and Families. She received a proclamation from Redwood City for outstanding work in the community and in the Redwood City Family Centers. Ms. Baxter is the President of the Board of Directors of Ujima Adult and Family Services. In addition, she is the Executive Director of the Lighthouse of Hope Counseling Center and currently serves as a Field Instructor for Interns both graduate and undergraduate at San Jose State University, and Cal State East Bay. Ms. Baxter has also received the Special Merit Award from the Human Relations Commission for her volunteer work in the community. “My mission is to assist people in examining their issues, while learning to make choices and decisions that will support them and their families in becoming physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy.”
