Eric Lopez
My name is Eric Lopez. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I studied psychology at the University of Florida and earned my Masters of Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University. I am client centered in my approach to therapy and believe empathy and understanding are key to the therapeutic relationship. Having over 15 years of counseling in the state of Florida, over the years I have worked with people suffering from depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, abuse, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, homelessness, and juvenile delinquency issues. The clients I have worked with have been between the ages of 5 and 85 from all races, ethnicities, cultures, backgrounds, political beliefs, and sexual orientations. The key to counseling and the client receiving true help, in my opinion, is having an open, empathetic, and trusting therapeutic relationship in which the client feels safe, heard and understood. With the client being the expert on their life, therapist and client together can bring clarity to thoughts, emotions, values, priorities, situations, and decisions. I integrate cognitive, behavioral, motivational interviewing, solution focused, existential and other approaches into counseling that is tailored to the client's needs and personality. Helping clients overcome problems and function at their best is my goal and honor. I hold a current License for Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) in the state of Florida.
