I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. I have experience working in the field for 9 years, including experience working in corrections, medically monitored detox, crisis stabilization, and community based crisis intervention. I have exposure to and an understanding of working with adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in outpatient, inpatient, and community settings. My areas of specialty include addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, and grief. When working with me, you will find I am passionate about working with engaged individuals to help them understand, confront, and overcome mental health and substance use disorders and that I am committed to providing professional, confidential, and ethical services by providing a safe, non-judgmental environment to begin self-exploration of adverse life experiences. Looking to help clients address barriers to care and promote healing through self-care and development of healthy relationships. My approach consists of an eclectic balance of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Culturally Sensitive Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Reality Therapy in order to meet clients where they are at emotionally and in their stage of change. I pride myself on being open and willing to learn about people while being sensitive to cultural differences and the needs of the client. I believe that you are the expert in you and I am here to help you empower your strengths and confront your maladaptive behaviors. We will develop a therapeutic relationship as well as a plan to address your concerns, needs, and goals.
