Hi, I'm Rachael. I love helping adults work through their life experiences and traumas and to help them experience more joy. I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and I am passionate about all the beautiful humans in this population, especially transgender and non-binary people. I look forward to assisting clients through major life events like relationship issues, grief, complex trauma and managing symptoms of anxiety, depression and ADHD. My approach is a whole lot of humor and directness. My favorite treatment modalities are meditation, mindfulness and CBT, although I love tailoring sessions to my client's needs.
I attended Penn State University for my Bachelor's in Human Development and Family Studies (2004) and University of Maryland at Baltimore for my Master's in Social Work (2007). I fell in love with the city of Baltimore after moving here for graduate school and never left! I have 17 years of experience working in community psychiatry in inner city Baltimore and have worked with some of the most underserved and acute populations. I have spent time in a hospital setting, including the emergency room and spent 5 years as a manager of several programs. I have done a lot of work in diversity, equity and inclusion and love helping others along in their anti-racist journeys. Mental health has always been my passion and doing one-on-one therapy is where I feel most useful.
In my free time, I love reading, yoga, painting, true crime and hanging out with my family. I changed jobs to work from home so that I could be more involved in my children's lives. Social worker, advocate and mom are my most valued roles.
Life is messy, in all sorts of ways. I love helping people navigate the messiness in a straightforward and empathetic way. Therapy doesn't have to be painful, it can actually be fun. I offer virtual sessions only. Please reach out if you think we might be a good fit.
