I am originally from Tennessee and have spent my career in the US Army the VA, and other therapy centers. I am married with two grown children. I am fully retired now except for this private practice online. Over the years I have come to see how trauma, in its various forms, can have devastating effects on lives and families. I am trained to provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as an effective tool to address that trauma and bring relief to people. This includes "Big T" trauma such as disturbing, dramatic, and often violent events in someone's life; and "Little t" trauma which often involves pervasive, long-term childhood experiences which leave someone feeling unwanted, unloved, not valued, and not respected. These patterns can take the form of constant criticism, verbal, and emotional abuse which often shows up later in people's lives as various mental health issues. But the devastation of trauma does not have to be permanent--relief of symptoms and the disturbing effects of trauma can be lessened.
