Dr. Joseph McCowan is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with 10 years of individual and group therapy experience and an extensive background in relational, humanistic, trauma-informed & mindfulness-based approaches.

Outside of his individual therapy experience, Joseph has been involved in psychedelic-assisted therapy research, including working as co-therapist and Supervisor in the MAPS-sponsored phase III clinical trials of MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD and the COMPASS-sponsored phase III clinical trials of Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy for Depression. Additionally, Joseph serves as a Trainer and Educator in the MAPS MDMA Therapy Education program.
Joseph has authored multiple essays and publications exploring the intersections of race, culture, trauma, and mental health. Joseph received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara & his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
