These feelings could cause anxiety, depression or even lead you to self harm. That's when you cut, or burn, or scratch yourself. It's hard to reach out for help. How do you put all this into words that anyone could possibly understand? You don't have to. This is my specialty. I already understand.
With some emotion management skills and some understanding you can learn how to handle big emotions and stop this cycle. You won't have to use so much energy pretending to be okay because you actually ARE okay. You can manage stress, finally connect with others, and have energy to participate and enjoy life. You're not on defense anymore.
It's important that your therapist not be shy about a topic like self-harm. Rest assured that this is what I work with and I use open communication and honest boundaries with you to handle this problem. There is no jumping straight to inpatient here. I'm with you every step of the way. I'll teach what you need to know to stop this and move on with life.
