Hello, I'm Ed. I hold a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington Graduate School of Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. I'm also a proud member of the National Association of Social Workers. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages, including children, teens, adults, families, and couples, helping them navigate their unique challenges and achieve a higher quality of life. Over the years, I've served on several community boards and organizations dedicated to mental health outreach and services. I've also held clinical director positions at residential treatment centers for children and adolescents, as well as community mental health centers serving diverse populations.
Although I'm retired, I remain active in providing online psychotherapy, public speaking, and conducting workshops and seminars. In addition to my professional work, I serve in the Men's and Couples ministry at my church and am the author of the book, 'Escape from Insanity Illusions and Lies,' available on Amazon. As a martial arts instructor, I incorporate Tai Chi exercises and techniques to help clients manage stress more effectively and achieve balance in their lives.
If you're seeking services for a child under 18, please note that parental involvement is essential during the initial assessment and may be required during subsequent appointments as needed.
My approach to therapy is rooted in evidence-based and solution-focused interventions. I believe in helping clients gain insight into the causes, blocks, and triggers of their emotional distress. This approach to therapy is primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, better known as CBT. The aim is to help people objectively evaluate how to think about themselves, other people, and events in their lives. This process can help to strengthen the neural connections that lead to more balanced thinking and healthy behavior choices.
With knowledge and experience of other therapy methodologies, Ed can help you become aware of thought processes and the connection to unwanted outcomes through self-discovery. This can help you approach difficult situations with more rationality and balanced thinking to make better choices. This can be very useful when facing emotional challenges related to mental health conditions as well as daily life challenges, help manage symptoms that can cause people to feel trapped in their emotional distress and find useful options and solutions that can lead to an improved quality of life.
Ed collaborates with clients to decide the best approach by encouraging clients to voice their thoughts and feelings about a problematic situation and teach CBT methods and other techniques to encourage management of symptoms outside the therapy session.
Ed has helped many individuals reshape their negative thought patterns and expose cognitive distortions to help develop positive thinking and behavior patterns to restore the balance through discovering new pathways to mental, spiritual, and physical well-being, ultimately leading to a healthier lifestyle.
