Amy Altman
Amy is a clinical social worker who has over 20 years’ experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse counseling. She received her Bachelor’s degree from American University and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Amy has worked in various clinical settings, such as the Frederick Detention Center, Frederick County Public Schools, outpatient mental health and substance abuse centers. She works with individuals and families whose members are struggling with the disease of addiction. She provides interventions, when necessary. She provides counseling to children, adolescents and adults dealing with mental illnesses and life issues. The approach she utilizes is the disease model of addiction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness. She is a big advocate for the Power of Kindness to oneself. She helps clients to learn to be caring and compassionate to themselves.
